Serum transaminase levels in liver disease.

چکیده
The process of transamination takes place in many tissues in the body and is a fundamental mechanism in the metabolism of amino-acids. Basically it consists of the reversible transfer of an amino group from an amino-acid to a keto acid, providing a link between protein and carbohydrate metabolism. Although there appear to be a multitude of transamination systems, each catalysed by a specific enzyme, clinical interest centres on the following two reactions.

Serum Liver proteins and 17β-estradiol in Postmenopausal Women with Breast Cancer
Background: Breast cancer is a hormone-dependent malignancy that is associated with estrogen and progesterone interactions. The liver is the most important organ to be affected by the metastasis of breast cancer, which causes functional impairment. We compared levels of obesity, 17β-estradiol, and secreted proteins in postmenopausal women with breast cancer but without hepatic symptoms to those...

Objective(s):To evaluate the effect of trinitroglycerin (TNG) as nitric oxide donor agent on serum copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) levels and liver enzymes in BALB/c mice infected with Leishmania major (L. major) MRHO/IR/75/ER. Materials and Methods: Inbred female mice were divided into three groups: healthy group (uninfected naive mice), control group (infected with L. major), and test group (L. maj...

Background: The prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is higher in patients with psoriasis than in the normal population. Serum leptin levels are higher in patients with psoriasis and in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver. The purpose of this study was to determine the serum levels of leptin in psoriatic patients with and without non-alcoholic fatty liver.<span...
متن کاملImpact of Propionic Acid on Liver Damage in Rats
Propionic acid (PA) is a short chain fatty acid, a common food preservative and metabolic end product of enteric bacteria in the gut. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of PA on liver injury in male rats. Male western albino rats were divided into two groups. The first group served as normal control, the second was treated with PA. The activities of serum hepatospecific ...
متن کاملOral toxic exposure of titanium dioxide nanoparticles on serum biochemical changes in adult male Wistar rats
Objective(s): Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) are widely used in commercial food additives and cosmetics worldwide. Uptake of these nanoparticulate into humans by different routes and may exhibit potential side effects, lags behind the rapid development of nanotechnology. Thus, the present study designed to evaluate the toxic effect of mixed rutile and anatase TiO2 NPs on serum bioc...

For the common rs738409 C>G SNP, which is located in the patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing protein 3 (PNPLA3), a strong association between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has been detected [1], approved [2-8] and expanded to an association with liver-fat content in general [8-13] and serum transaminase levels [14]. Also an association to a higher risk of progression to cir...
